Dr Rehan Mustafa is a Substantive at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Rehan Mustafa is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and the Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine at National Clinical Insourcing (NCI). He has recently taken up a substantive post at York and Scarborough NHS Foundation Trust, having previously served as Clinical Director for Respiratory Medicine at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

With over a decade of consultant experience, Rehan has led the development of high-performing respiratory services, introducing innovative pathways in lung cancer, COPD, pleural disease, sleep medicine, and post-COVID care. His leadership at South Tees delivered consistently high RTT compliance and national recognition for service quality and efficiency.

Rehan is also an advanced interventional bronchoscopist, with specialist expertise in pleural disease and minimally invasive procedures including endobronchial ultrasound and endobronchial valve therapy. He has a strong academic track record, contributing to national research trials published in leading journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and the European Respiratory Journal.

At NCI, Rehan provides clinical leadership and governance for all respiratory services, ensuring patient-centred care, robust safety standards, and seamless integration with NHS teams. His focus is on delivering sustainable capacity to help trusts reduce waiting times while maintaining the highest standards of quality and value.
