Consultant Gynaecologist & Sub-specialist in Gynaecological Oncology Accredited Colposcopist.
Mr Ahmed Talaat is the Clinical Lead for Gynaecology at NCI and a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and Sub-specialist in Gynaecological Oncology. He serves as the Trust Lead Clinician for Gynaecological Cancer at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, where he has been a consultant since 2012. In addition, Mr Talaat holds private practice appointments at Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital and Exeter Hospital.
Mr Talaat holds a distinguished academic background with qualifications including MBBCh, MSc, MD, and FRCOG (London). He achieved dual GMC-accredited Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology in 2011 following extensive training across leading UK centres, including London, Newcastle, Portsmouth, and Southampton.
He completed his formal Sub-specialist Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology in 2011 and has been an accredited Colposcopist and trainer since 2003. His clinical and academic contributions include numerous national and international peer-reviewed publications, particularly in early detection and management of gynaecological cancers.
As a trusted expert in his field, Mr Talaat has a strong focus on delivering safe, high-quality care for women across the full spectrum of gynaecological needs – from general gynaecology to complex oncological surgery. He plays an active role in education and clinical training, reflecting his commitment to the development of the specialty and improving outcomes for women. Mr Talaat brings to NCI not only deep clinical expertise but also a passion for improving patient outcomes through evidence-based, compassionate care. His leadership within NCI ensures our gynaecology services are governed to the highest standards of clinical quality and patient safety.
