Marie Lyons
NCI Clinical Lead for ENT
Marie Lyons is a Substantive Consultant ENT Surgeon with over 16 years of service at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where she currently holds a dual leadership role as Deputy Medical Director and Responsible Officer.
Marie previously held a Planned Care Divisional Medical Director role responsible for surgery and clinical support services for 4 years prior for the trust.
Having trained at the University of Cambridge, Marie completed her specialist surgical training in London, followed by a prestigious fellowship in Paediatric ENT in Canada. Her clinical practice spans both adult and paediatric ENT, with a surgical caseload exceeding 400+ procedures annually, which she both performs and supervises. Marie is a committed educator, acting as Educational Supervisor for both junior and senior residents, and is known for her dedication to high-quality patient care.
In her leadership role, she has overseen governance across multiple surgical specialties as well as key support services including Radiology and Pathology, ensuring that clinical safety, performance, and service quality remain consistently high. She is currently leading the development of a new Integrated Care Board (ICB) elective surgical hub in Hertfordshire, reinforcing her strategic insight into elective recovery and service redesign. Marie also serves as Clinical Lead for ENT at National Clinical Insourcing (NCI).
