Dr Baba Aji
Clinical Lead for Neurology
Dr Baba Aji is a highly experienced Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Clinical Lecturer with over a decade of substantive consultant practice within the NHS. He has served as a Substantive Consultant Neurologist at The Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery NHS Foundation Trust since 2013, one of the UK’s leading specialist neuroscience centres, and also provides specialist neurology services in North Wales.
As NCI’s Clinical Lead for Neurology, Dr Aji brings extensive expertise across a broad range of neurological conditions, including epilepsy, headaches and migraine, movement disorders and Parkinson’s disease, peripheral nerve disorders, demyelinating diseases, and multiple sclerosis. His clinical approach is centred on delivering high-quality, patient-focused care whilst supporting sustainable elective recovery and pathway transformation across NHS organisations.
Dr Aji is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and completed his specialist neurology training in the United Kingdom, receiving his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Neurology in 2013. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Neurology from the prestigious Institute of Neurology, London, alongside a Master’s degree in Pharmacology.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Aji is actively involved in medical education and research. He serves as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Liverpool, contributes to the training and supervision of future neurologists, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications spanning epilepsy, cognitive neurology, movement disorders, and neurodegenerative disease. He has also contributed as a Co-Principal Investigator in major UK neurological research studies.
Through his leadership role at NCI, Dr Aji supports the development and delivery of high-quality neurology services, helping NHS organisations reduce waiting times, improve access to specialist care, and deliver measurable outcomes for patients.
