Breast services play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of both benign and malignant breast conditions. They cover the full patient pathway, from initial referral and rapid-access “one-stop” clinics through to diagnostic imaging, biopsy, surgery, and post-treatment follow-up.
NHS Trusts are facing sustained pressure in this area, with high volumes of two-week wait referrals and growing demand for both diagnostic and surgical services. Any delay in access has a direct impact on cancer pathways, patient outcomes, and patient wellbeing. Timely diagnosis and intervention are essential to meeting national cancer targets and reducing patient anxiety.
At NCI, we understand that breast services require consultant-led, multidisciplinary teams working within robust governance frameworks, with close collaboration between surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and specialist nurses.
All services are delivered by Consultant Breast Surgeons and Breast Radiologists with extensive NHS experience, supported by breast care nurses, radiographers, and theatre teams.
