Modern Slavery Policy

1.0 Introduction

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.

National Clinical Insourcing (NCI) has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implement and enforce effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or our supply chain.

We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chain. We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers and other business partners. As part of our contracting processes, we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labour, or anyone held in slavery or servitude and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.

2.0 Application

This policy applies to all persons working for NCI in whatever capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, agents, contractors and suppliers.

3.0 Definitions

We consider that modern slavery encompasses:
• human trafficking
• forced work, through mental or physical threat
• being owned or controlled by an employer through mental or physical abuse of the threat of abuse
• being dehumanised, treated as a commodity or being bought or sold as property
• being physically constrained or to have restriction placed on freedom of movement.

4.0 Roles and Responsibilities

HR and Compliance team have overall responsibility for ensuring this policy complies with our legal and ethical obligations, and that all those under our control comply with it.

The Directors have primary and day-to-day responsibility for implementing this policy, monitoring its use and effectiveness, dealing with any queries about it, and auditing internal control systems and procedures to ensure they are effective in countering modern slavery.

Management at all levels are responsible for ensuring those reporting to them understand and comply with this policy and are given any required training

5.0 Commitments

We aim to encourage openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under this policy, even if they turn out to be mistaken. We are committed to ensuring no one suffers any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting in good faith their suspicion that modern slavery of whatever form is or may be taking place in any part of our own business or in any part of our supply chain. If you believe that you have suffered any such treatment, you should inform your manager immediately.
NCI acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and
commits to complying with the provisions in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We understand that this requires an ongoing review of both its internal practices in relation to its labour force and, additionally, its supply chains.
NCI does not enter into business with any other organisation, in the United
Kingdom or abroad, which knowingly supports or is found to involve itself in slavery,
servitude and forced or compulsory labour.

No labour provided to NCI in the pursuance of the provision of its own services
is obtained by means of slavery or human trafficking. NCI strictly adheres to the
minimum standards required in relation to its responsibilities under relevant employment
legislation in the UK.

NCI expects everyone working with us or on our behalf to support and uphold
the following measures to safeguard against modern slavery:

• zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in our organisation and our supply chains.
• prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery in any part of our organization or supply
• chain which is the responsibility of all those working for Company Name or on
• our behalf. Employees must not engage in, facilitate or fail to report any activity that
• might lead to, or suggest, a breach of this policy.
• demonstrate commitment to engaging with our stakeholders and suppliers to address the risk of
• modern slavery in our operations and supply chain.
• take a risk-based approach to our contracting processes and keep under review.
• assess whether the circumstances warrant the inclusion of specific prohibitions against the use of
• modern slavery and trafficked labour in our contracts with third parties.
• using a risked based approach, we will assess the merits of writing to suppliers requiring them to
• comply with our Code of Conduct, which sets out the minimum standards required to combat modern slavery and trafficking.

Supply Chain
We strictly prohibits the use of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain. We will continue to implement systems and controls aimed at ensuring that modern slavery is not taking place within our organisation or in the supply chain. We expect that suppliers to require their suppliers to the same high
standards.
